I spend a good hour or two in front of my tank each day... clean it whenever it gets foggy looking.  Nothing ever gets a chance to build up, but I'd have to say maybe a slight brownish colour.  Use a Hammerhead (overkill but I hate buying things twice and know I'll go with a bigger tank in the next couple years).

I clean when needed and i break all the rules and use a mag float.  I by far do not have show tank glass. It is usually just a pale film on the glass. I have a boat load of those tiny snails that do most the work for me. Only have about 5 turbo snails, 1 cleaner shrimp and a banded shrimp in there other then that.

I find I clean the outside of the glass more then the inside, but that is mostly from kids pushing their faces against the glass all day.

I run a magfloat once a week across all three sides whether it needs it or not! ;D I find as the tank gets older there is less build up! :D and the colour is brownish!  ;)

I honestly don't clean the front of my glass. I can still see through it...but I don't see any point in making the algae free float around in tank, so I leave it :)
