RapidLED Cree Puck DIY Kits

Hmmm...so Im still up in the air over LED's, still debating CREE over Bridgelux.  Im not sure if I just havnt seen it before but I noticed that RapidLED is now selling the CREE puck LED kits, each puck contains one cool white, one royal blue and one blue..just wondering what the pros and cons may be against going with puck over separate leds....

anyones thoughts??

The cons would be an inability to control the colors independently, pros are less leds to wire.  I am considering tyring some multichip leds over my tank which are the same concept except they have 50-100 leds on a puck.

its my understanding you can either run all 3 LEDs independantly on seperate drivers or together on one driver, its all in how you wire them.

biggest pro would be better color mix and less color banding.

you can control white and blue independently. The kit on their web site only come with 2 drivers so they have it set up to run white on one and the blues on the other.

i made mine with seperate LED's i could not be happyer with it, however i should of used more blue LED's (which im adding this summer)...if you need any help or have any questions with planning or the build let me know ill be happy to help.

with the pucks you drive the white seperate from the blue and royal blue i assume, there really isnt too much of a diffrence aslong as you use good optics and mount the fixture high to avoid spotting...which isnt really vissible spotting, just more intense spots of light... IMO your going to get better coverage with seperate LED's espically if you have a larger tank, but im not sure how big your tank is, color banding wont be an issue if you stagger your chips and have them high enough
