I'm really not sure where you guys buy your fish or what you are looking for but around here they are a lot more expensive...these fish are qt and they don't leave the store until they are eating..

I would double check that they don't have to be picked up right away. If he has 100 customers, each getting 1-2 fish, that's a whole load of fish to hold. I don't want to discourage anyone from ordering from the list, I have only heard good things about Colin and his store.

When I spoke to Colin they are all being held at the store until they are good to go, as per his usual policy. He usually holds them for 3 weeks and makes sure they are eating and healthy.

As far as the prices go, some are high and some are low. With the extra care and the gaurantee he has, he can't be both a top level fish guy and have the cheapest prices.

My sargassum I got from Colin is awesome, healthy and active.

I have no authority to speak for Reef Boutique but I ordered from his last custom order and the buyer has the option to pick up immediately (at Reef Boutique - fish still in bag - direct from airport) or he will hold them for you in his tanks and get them to eat, or until you are ready to pick them up
This guy stands behind his livestock and frankly if I have to pay a few bucks more for a fish that I expect to keep for years, it's well worth it
If you want cheap, questionably unhealthy fish, there are plenty of places that will take your money. If you want piece of mind, buy from Colin
After my tank got marine velvet from a fish purchased from a LFS in the GTA, I now exclusively buy fish from Reef Boutique

So does he actually treat the fish or just hold them for inspection/see if there eating? I am just curious as to the process, I don't really sell fish so no vested interest other then being curious as to his process.

Some disease and parasites cannot be (or hard) to see with the human eye, so is he actually doing the medicated treatments (example would be dipping for flukes) or does he just observe and feed?

He is using the same practice that he does with all of his fish shipments and his guarantee applies.. maybe some of the fish are more expensive than some members are willing to pay, in that case then if anyone feels that they are overpriced its a simple solution " don't buy them " but people should keep their comments to themselves and not start a bashing frenzy...

Livestock guarantees are far a few between these days, a real game changer in my opinion!

Not sure why you getting all bent out of shape, nobody is bashing anyone. I made a comment that this fish seem expensive and they are relative to other GTA stores. I am not saying that the price isn't justified I am only asking the questions that I am sure a few people are wondering like....what is the QT procedure? Please don't take comments the wrong way, this is not a bashing thread and I second the fact that an guarentee is pretty sweet and that many different things can justify for higher prices like QT and arrive alive/stay alive guarantees. I have not dealt with Colin but I do like his different approach, my questions are in regarde to the actual QT of the fish. People on this forum have purchased from him, so likey they can shed some light on this.

If the Reef Boutique is taking the time to QT the fish properly, than like a couple of our friends here have already said, it would justify a higher price and I would pay it just to have the confidence that my new fish will not only provide me with years of healthy enjoyment but that I would not have to worry as much about introducing any diseases or parasites ect to my tank. but it looks like a lot of his prices are very reasonable compared to some LFS's ,But that being said, i am not sure i would want to drive down there if he was giving them away! I hate driving in toronto. lol
