Is this system worth the money? Or should I pay the extra to get a better one?

I myself was extremely interested in the RKL product but after a little due diligence I have opted for the Neptune ApexJr.  Figure out exactly what you want to do with the controller then compare the abilities and standard options for both. I think you will sway towards the Neptune sytem  8)

I have ordered the ApexJr with an additional EB8. Cant wait to set it up!!!

Honestly, I have looked at ReefGeek, GoReef and other US sites and with duties and brokerages fees its more to order from the US.  Bill (Incredible Aquarium) sells them the cheapest and its local support..IMHO he's the best option.

i only went with the Apex jr for 149 and with an eb8(extra power bar) your good to go.. so in the end yes it will cost more to add everything i need but i dont have to drop 500 all at once to get going. the ipod, web access is something i really love about the apex. i have a blackberry and can just use the browser to access it anywhere anytime, and if im at home theres an app for my ipod touch and can do everything from it.

Well you know my opinion on it.  There were just too many guys with killer tanks on reefcentral going "get the APEX!!!!!", and I tell you, I'm glad I did.  I think I mentioned to you that I had to get the second outlet bar, hell I could almost use a third (actually there is two more power bars under the tank, a switch one and a timer one).

The ipad control is a party pleaser.

my biased opinion is that for $149, the Apex Jr gives you 4 controllable outlets and a temp probe that can be monitored and dialed in through your smartphone-- good value and room to expand should you decide to later.
