Return Pump

all of a sudden this afternoon my mag 8.5 pump died.. I have unplugged it, has anyone had this happen to them and is it pooched...

no I haven't opened it up, means that I would have to take apart the plumbing, which won't be hard...the controller won't even light up..

guess I'm wrong on the size, its on the big tank and it does have a controller..it is an older one that I bought used when I set the tank up...

No mag pumps have a controller. Maybe whom ever sold it to you remembers. If it has a controller, it is probably a Jebao. They do fail randomly and do not have the best track record. Most people keep a spare just for that. I have a spare dc12000 in case mine current dc12000 craps out

it is a Jebao and it has a controller, who knows...I am going to have to buy a new one, what is a better return pump..without breaking the bank..has to have a controller...

That is where it hurts. For a tank that size, controllable and not Jebao...you are looking at about $500 for a vectra M1. Going to be over $300 no matter what. Jebao dc12000 is only $200 new.

so far Iike the Jebao products,, I was looking at pets n ponds today.. glad that you mentioned the dc12000, that's what I was looking at...

I also like the way the Jebao's work and obviously the price point makes them easy to get into....but I am personally finding a huge question mark on the longevity...even if they're one quarter the price...if they don't last at least a quarter the life it's no bargain....

It's hit or miss. I have had one on my 120 peninsula tank since I first fired up the tank.
