heres a quick pic of the royal blue screw in bulb that i got off ebay to try until i pony up money for some real ones.  6 bucks with shipping .  didnt have the chance to mount yet but i tryed it out real quick and does a quater of the tank so i woyld need to get 2 more.  haludes and t5 still overpower the royal blue look but with those off the colour on the corals are intense.. not bad fir 18 bucks for 3 shipped  ill take a pic with on when i get home

Interesting concept, personally I think it would be great for a sump for someone like me who has a frag table in it. Would be nice to see what happens when you hook it up to the main tank.  8)

I have seen them while comparing Cree to Bridglux. Those LED replacements for florescent bulbs are pricey.

even if you factor in that you don't have to swap out the bulbs every 6 months?

Tried led and my opion is who cares on what you save in power when they do nothing to help you grow corals and you need so many to light up you tank the way it should be. My t5s do better and i can change the color tones anytime i want. Incondesent figtures corode fast and shock occurs.

what leds did u try collecter? probaly the marineland..ya thoses dont work. why do u think that ppl on here that have had reef tanks for years with halides and t5 are switching? do research and its proven if u spend the money on quality leds u can sustain all coral as for me with my led bulb it comes with a dome shield that protects it and this is just for p.op in corals not for growing

quite the blanket statement there, considering I've had LED for what,2+ weeks now and i see a marked increase in growth in my tank, all my zoas are spreading and open wider than ever,i have 5 frags of sps corals,2 of which where dropped and multiplied(broke) in that fashion, all have regained full colouration, what LED did you try? mine are a definate equal to or maybe better than my T5 HO lamps

I've run LED's for 6 months now, and if corals can't grow under LED, they must be thriving on my good wishes.  I just didn't want to argue with a guy that does 2 posts and one of them is very very troll-like.  He also posted "FORD RULEZZZ!!! LOLOLZ!!1!!" on a GM forum just before that.

My performance is always sub par.  Exactly like the job in gonna do on your LEDs IF you ever change out of that skirt and cut the umbilical cord.  And I don't drink

So really what your saying is, your going to make them the same way you did your own? :)

I'd like to go on record as saying that as an angry-loner-alcoholic, I will assemble sub par LED systems for beer.

(just kidding, I'm not a loner)  ;D
