IDoes not matter were i work or were i shop i have tried all light and spent more money then you can imange. I said my opnion is my 8 bulb t5l lights do so much better for me for color and the growth that  I want. I dont buy junk like marineland.

Instead of spending so much money on lights maybe you should invest in some grammar and spelling classes. I think there is room in my daughters junior kindergarten class... I can put in a good word for you with miss Laramie. Lmao. What leds did you run exactly?

Sorry was on the phone. Never bashed just gave my opion. I made a 48 led  1 watters that i ordered from china and run it 3 months and could not get the color I wanted.

Ya the 1 watts don't have the power like te bridgelux 3 watts. A lot of people are going to be very very happy when their orders arrive. I personally have 36 royal blues 3 watts with 2 250 watt MHs and I can't believe the color and growth from the combo. I even want to get rid of my halides all together. Only advantage to t5 is the diff color arrangements u can achieve from various bulbs. To each their own tho. Do what works best for you. I was cracking a joke my iPhone makes me spell stupid shit all the time too.

your issue doesnt lie with leds, It lies with using only 48 1w leds. Look at pulpfictions setup for instance, he runs the 1w leds also, but he has 120 in each of his pendants...times that by 3 pendants..

Maybe later i will try the 3 watts.  Till thenI will stick to thet5.  Sorry i am on my tablet and working at the same time. Self employed and on the phone and coput and tablet all at once.

I run 70%/30% mix of royal blues to whites, and I have 96 3W CREE's in my system.  With the dimmers and the mix I can go from 100% actinic glow-in-the-dark look to standing in the sahara in full sun look, so the "LED's suck, T5's rule" was a bit contentious.  My setup was ~$1000 but has the benefit of not replacing bulbs every 6 months like my old setup, so they will pay for themselves within a year.

I'm pretty sure, however, that any T5 arrangement WOULD be better than 48 watts of chineeee knockoff LED's.

When people start using LEDs I just don't see them going back to lighting that is based on 70 year old technology.  I strongly think that LED tech is just beginning, who would ever have guessed you could light an sps tank with just LED's even 5 years ago...

Well, for sticks they grow just fine.  ;D

What I notice about sps frags, they seem to grow over the base first, then really start to expand.  Here's a few I got from the frag swap at ricks, notice how much they have grown over the putty I put them in.  There is a Full tank shot,  just to say that it is indeed possible to get fantastic colour.  These are RAW image files, unaltered (just resized)

I should mention I dose BRS 2 part, and feed reef roids a couple of times a week.  Seems to be working so far.

If anyone wants to come by and take a look at a frankestein mess that can grow sps, feel free to stop by.  :)
