I run an octopus BH1000HOB skimmer in my pony tank, the tank is 45g all-in-one and this skimmer is rated for between 78/130 g.. I know over kill...does anyone else have this skimmer... mine is running an extremely wet skim and the adjustment band on the collection cup isn't hold it in place to get a drier skim...I was thinking of replacing o-ring but not sure what to use, maybe a thick elastic but not sure if that would work... any suggestions... thanks..

I loved my RO HOB skimmer. It was different then yours. I can't remember the model off hand. I think @Neopimp bought it and was resold from there. Probably my favorite skimmer.

That's not overkill ... I have the BH2000 on my 46 bowfront. LOL It came with the tank and seems to work well. Although besides the rubber band part isn't there a little plastic screw on the left of the collection cup? Mine has one anyways. I always loosen and tighten that when cleaning the cup. Mind you I guess that likely wouldn't be enough to hold the cup in place ... especially if it was full.

Good to know about elastic bands though in case mine ever gives out. I need to do a total cleaning of this skimmer very soon. Not looking forward to that.

Please let us know how the elastic bands work for you!

I don't feel so bad no after reading the size of your skimmer and tank and yes, I will let you know how the rubber band works, I am a firm believer that you can't over skim if its set correctly...I run a RO skimmer on my 125g and its rated for 500g...

Heather did yours not come with and adjustment screw on the left side of the collection cup?

Like this, if not then you are missing yours, it helps hold the cup in place for a wet or dry, plus if you get to much skim without the screw the cup keeps lowering over time

Still have that skimmer sitting in a box... used the screw since the beginning... elastic never really held.

Time to move your tanks around....:D Not.

If you need an o-ring, I have a few hundred different sized ones...
