Check out these reviews for the bubble magus curve. Seems a lot of people buy them to replace their current skimmer. Good for comparisons.

I find the older Vertex Skimmers to be much better than the new skimmers being made now, Is it worth 400-600 hundred just cause yours is a pain, Not to me. Skimmers can certainly be a pain but if it's working and pulling out crap perhaps there's a way you can mod it so that it's not such a pain. I'd go to Reef Central and look for Mods.

That's a big time skimmer, good choice, I think Yangman has one of those puppies.

I have this skimmer and love it so far.

And its only on a 135g DT and 30g sump. Its rated for 300g if its a light bioload.

I will never buy another vertex product. Absolutely no customer service. I have had two different issues and neither one solved.

My next skimmer will be a life reef skimmer.

As far as Vertex Customer Service goes. I will purchase any Vertex products through a dealer or store, then if having a problem deal directly with the store, As far as buying used. I my self would consider it buyer beware and not expect anything from them. Perhaps some suppliers will make it right no matter what but they are few and far between.
