I'm curious Can you regenerate a Stoney coral? How far gone have you had a coral frag and brought it back?

Can you take a completely bleached acro and with light bring it back to life? Or if you bound a healthy one with a dead one could/would it transfer life over?

I assume in the wild coral grow on coral skeletons. But will it act like live rock? Regenerate from dead to live?

Things will grow over dead corals, but corals will not repopulate dead skeletons (however monti's can appear dead and will seemingly come back to life) . And there is a huge difference between being dead white and being covered in bleached tissue that has just lost its colour. each coralite builds its own custom structure it cannot identify a substrate as correct and "move in".

In between eyes a chalice will re-cover skeleton with new tissue but a completely dead eye will not be replaced and the new eyes will create their own structures.

That's why, when an acro loses tips, it is better to cut them off and let the tip regrow rather than expecting the coral to encrusted over dead skeleton before forming a growth tip.

if you still see polyps theres still a chance thats my rule of thumb. if rtn starts its hard to stop so i normally just clip it back to healthy tissue and it will heal over. monties are the easiest tho ive had one that was 6"x8" got stung by my aussie lobo and was only a toonie size of live tissue after a year its almost fully recovered

I lost my green slimmer. The new urchin moved it under rock work. By the time I found it, it is too late. I bought some epoxy from reefsupplies so I should never have this issue again.

It's my own fault. But arcos really lose colour fast.
