But what supplement like Cal, mag ? I guess I'm lost
It's will have a lot to do with what you have in your tank.... what do u have for coral... don't dose anything unless u test for it.... a heavy sps tank will need supplements but if you have just small coral frags or just a lot of softies your frequent water changes will take care of all the coral needs

Lol I know that lol but I'm also asking what supplements do I nyou ed to add to my tank. Got the brand down lol

oh okay lol

I think your question is depends on each tank. You will need to test and from the results you will know what supplements you need.

The most common for reef tanks are Cal, Alk, and Mag.

I only have low counts of livestock but I will start to dose ESV 2 part and Mag since the Alk, Cal, and Mag seems to be much lower using Fauna Marin salt even on a freshly made seawater.

I am switching to Aquaforest salt so we will see

Just dosing Cal, Alk and Mg. My personal belief is that regular water changes would replenish all other elements.

Only dose what you test for. That is how you know what to dose. If you do not test for it, DO NOT dose it. Even if you are following the directions. Most common are the big 3 cal, mag, and alk/Kh. You most likely do not need to dose anything in your tank. Simple water changes should be enough so long as you are doing it every other week or so.

Dosing is actually cheaper than doing WC for the purpose of replenishing the important elements. I do WC to export nutrients and waste, and not to replenish the trace elements even though they do come with trace elements :)

Agreed. Not saying to do water changes in place of dosing, but in adding new water after removing nutrients and waste etc, it should keep levels in check.
