I would like to hang a 20ish gal tank on my wall. I want it as aesthetically clean and simple as possible. Any ideas? I could use a leg or two under the tank but again. Simple and non distracting. I don’t want a stand/cabinet and it will need to be about 4-5’ above the floor. Thanks

You have to have a steel frame made and secured to the wall studs from the floor up to the aquarium height. The aquarium base cantilever out.

Easiest is metal frame on the wall or if you don't want to see the metal uprights, then you have to cut open the wall and secure at the side of the wall studs.

If you know someone that is good at welding, its easier to have it built on site. Aim for 1000lb live load capacity for the cantilever is 13-14" deep, accounting for some space behind the aquarium.

An issue may be the stud spacing and the more direct the downward force from the cantilever is exerted directly on the upright support, the cheaper (not having to go up in metal gauge, cuts and welds) and easier the work will be.

Get a actual wall tank they make them, super thin but very sleek looking
I had the same thing a few years ago. The tank was actually 5-6" off of the wall Total volume was 25gal I think. Was cool but a pain in the ass to work in. Maybe check eBay. Or Alibaba. I know when i bought it years ago it came in from China, was held up with two iron L brackets and I bolted them to studs in the wall. Still felt sketchy as sh!t. I did hang my 200lbs self on each one before I put the tank up. Lol.

I sold it to some one in Mississauga for $150 I think. Much cheaper than I got it for.

Wish I kept it for a jelly fish tank. Would be cool. Besides that I wouldn't put anything else but FW. Or maybe sea horses. Flow is a pain.

A braced cantilevered shelf I installed about 5 years ago...65gal sump on the left and a split 50gal NSW/RODI on the right mounted on a cinder block wall.

You have to find the centre of the stud and use lag screws.

That looks like a no nonsense fish room

Thx...its in a monsterous garage with cars and motorcycles. Interesting story with that client...LOL

I had him reconfigure his HVAC to pull air towards the sump (trunk is above the sump) as the salt spray and humidity would ruin his cars and tools...I'll have to find more pics of the set-up but it was a revamp from some other yahoo that designed and built the system.
