Tek 5 Light Start Stop

Hey guys so I got a 6 bulb tek 5 light of a guy on here used finally got my 75 gal running and lights running the second day I had it the moment you try to turn it on it shuts right back off on both switches cleand the bulb ends figuring it was that it's not it won't do it when it's warm only on cold start what is wrong I hope I dident purchase a junk light

do all the bulbs light before it shuts off?
have you tried a different outlet?

Sounds like a ballast problem

i agree with ballast i have 6 lite system and 4 lites go off after 30 sec and wont come back on till i unplug and try again and they go off again ideal supply tested 3 ballast and said 2 where bad

Ya tried diferant outlets it has 2 bulbs on one switch 4 bulbs on another all light then go out do it 100 times finally will stay on

Ya sounds like I got screwed on this one thanks guys for the help I was thinking ballast also it did it when I got it from him but he said it's only because it's cold it was in my trunk and now I got a junk light lol

Used is cheaper but sometimes itsucks I don't think ballast are real expensive prob like 60 each

Ya but the problem is probably should put new bulbs in.also lol there another 170$ plus 60-100$ for a ballast plus 175 for what I payed could have got a new one lol

there is probably 2 ballasts in there, do all the lights go out at the same time?

Can't look at it that way. You would have to buy bulbs new or not. I agree there should only be two ballasts and they are cheap.

Ya they all turn on and right back off and I think it's a single ballast but not 100% on that

yup, bulbs normally are not included on the good fixtures. If they are, they normally are not 'the best' bulbs.

K so the light works and worked fine I told you it needs new bulbs they are busted and old. The light fired up and stayed on before you paid for it get new bulbs

I figured the seller would say something I figure the seller tells what he knows and the light was tested and was good for the buyer sometimes things break but It really shouldn't be blamed on the seller he said it needed new bulbs

It's not the bulbs just put them in my other 4 bulb fixture and it works just fine yes he said the bulbs are a year old but they work great in my other fixture and yes when he brought it I hooked it up it did exactly what it's doing on and off 60 times till it finally stayed on and he told me probably because it was cold in the car we'll still doing it nice and warm on my tank not the bulbs

Any body know what balast I should use ?

Take the light apart and the old ballast will tell you.

But should I upgrade the ballast is there something better ice cap or work horse something like that not to experienced with the t5 ballast
