So now that this system has been up and running for a few months, I'm looking to add some natural plant life and also looking for some freshwater snails? Does anyone have a freshwater planted tank? Snails locally?

I just want to say thank you very much lol .. For my job im going to a new house every day I see lots and lots of pets , really cool fresh water and nice reefs . But out of all the turtle tanks this is bring the A game . So many people take advantage of turtles because they can live in some nasty waters , but that doesn't mean they should. Im very happy to see such an awesome set up for this big guy

My wife keeps asking for a turtle....this build has inspired me. I was thinking of a spring to fall pond then moving the turtle inside for the winter....good idea?

I think it looks awesome ... he seems to be a big turtle ...

He's about 7" I think last time I measured him. My boy got him about 8yrs ago and he has been getting a larger tank every couple years, this might not be his last one.

Yes turtle gourmet pellet mix, the goldfish gets what the turtle misses

Nope and a few other smaller fish in the tank as well. Never touched any of them.
