I am looking to jump onto this bandwagon during boxing day. Now I've been reading at watching YouTube videos etc about the powerheads/wavemakers. My question is the older wp series, what is the difference between it and the newer rw one. Is it only the wireless communication between the two? The wp has a 360 rotation while the rw only has up or down. Who owns there's either one or the other. I am looking for any and all thoughts and input on the subject. The tank is question will be a 65 short (36x18) foot print. It will be a peninsula build with the unit placed on the Short side of the tank.

They bother have the same 360° rotation. I prefer the RW series. The flow is wider and I do find them quieter. The wireless is nice as they can work together as master and slave. That works well if you want them to work together or run the same without having to find the sweet spots.

The rw powerheads are are only wireless with other rw powerheads, so they are only useful if you plan to have more than 1. I personally don't find the rw powerheads less quiet than the wp powerheads, my rw8 is just as noisy as my wp 60. I do like them both and would recommend jabao powerheads.

I have rw15 on my dt and an rw4 on my 40g breeder. No experience with the wp series. I have had no issues with any of them. I enjoy changing up the modes every once and a while and use the night mode which slows the pumps down to the minimum setting when the lights go out. I believe for the money you won't find anything better.

Now so here is a new question . If I get the rw series is it best to get 2.. and if so what size. The tank is a 65 gallon (36x18) I was thinkin of 2 rw8's. Or would u be able to go to a rw15 and just limit the flow ?

Or would even one rw15 be good?

I've used a single RW-8 on a 65 gallon before. It was ok but I got a second one to get more random flow. I think 2 RW-8 would be better for random flow compared to a single source wavemaker. But it does add more cost and more cable mess. Also, I have noticed however a significant slowdown in flow after a few months of usage.

I love !! My jebao rw -8 it's a crazy ass powerhead ! I have it on my 3' long tank and I'm good with 3 bars lit out of 8 my corals Love it they grow so much better I couldn't believe it. They are very very good price and well thought of and very easy to clean this and my kessils I would recommend 110% to anyone to buy! Just make sure you buy the right one with the proper power cord to plug in to our Canadian outlets eh.

Very nice size ! For how hard it works
