I watch it now and then it is the OCC of the aquarium world. They fill and stock the same day and use fake corals and such. Their builds and ideas are amazing.

For people that do not know, OCC - Orange County Choppers. It was a big show about a family business where they made custom choppers. Lots of drama but amazing products. Nothing like reality lol.

I wish they spent more time on the setup and construction of the tanks rather than the dialogue between the people on the show.

Like I get it, you have big celebrities who want you to make an aquarium for you, but I'd love to hear the thought process behind the equipment, the compatibility of fish, science behind keeping saltwater, and care/maintenance of the tanks.

Cool show though! They really make some nice fish-tanks.

After watching it for the first time I wasn't reallly impressed by this show... there was not much emphasis on the fish them selves.... after watching it last night I won't watch again either I was disappointed .

In the beginning I really enjoyed the types of tanks they built and the shapes they came up with. But as time went on I began to focus more on the fact that they don't cycle tanks, they throw all the fish in at the same time, they don't talk about compatibility of said fish and they don't give you more than a glimpse of the fish. I always wonder what happens to the tank in 1 month, 3 months, 1 year down the line and whether the coral inserts look as good or if the fish survive. They never seem to talk about cleanup crew etc. I keep seeing a massive algae bloom in my mind's eye that becomes a very unsightly tank. I have given up watching it as well because I got too frustrated...

Yeah but there are a lot of people in this area that believe there is a miracle cycling liquid bacteria you put in and can put fish in the same day. I don't have enough hands to count the people that have came in saying they used this stuff and then the fish they put in are dead or sick after a couple of days. I am not a believer in miracle juices for our tanks. I wish people would just cycle their aquarium and have a little patience. Maybe its shows like this that get people to think saltwater is easy.

I am not looking forward to the million questions we will get this summer about finding Dory. That movie almost needs a disclaimer stating the proper setup information for a Dory and Nemo. Basically so I don't have to tell every kid that they can't have Dory in their 10 gallon aquarium.

My wife gets angry everytime I watch the show, the guys on there are so fake and scripted it drives her nuts. I just watch it for the entertainment value

Darryl
It definitely has some entertainment value for sure.... but what a shame. ...the producers of this show really has dropped the ball on the type of content being put into the script.... more fish.... less drama!! I'd watch the American presidential debates if I wanted to hear drama...lol

Yvette, I was the same as you, when I first got into sw I watched the show faithfully.. boy, what a lie...

Arron, totally agree about the " miracle" stuff to cycle the tank immediately, when will people learn that good things don't usually happen over nite...

and please don't get me started on the upcoming movie...anyone that is involved with rescue will remember all of the movies that depicted easy dog ownership, 101 Dalmatians, Air Bud series, just go and check out the shelters 6 mths after these movies came out...

my rant for the day..
