I ended up getting local store owner to come in every other day and friend checked on the off days.
Needs to be someone that has had a tank and understands all aspects.
Plumbing, lighting and livestock.
For the price I paid to have someone with knowledge I thought was priceless.

totally agree, with the money that we have invested sounds priceless to me...

Its harder in London Ontario less opinions when it comes to ppl coming to check things out ... I got a close buddy that does my check ups... but I would love someone to come check in on maintenance times like once a month or something paid of course ...that would be cool ...

Have your buddy come over a couple times before going.
Go over the tank with him...
1. look at water level
2. listen for odd noise
3. look for any water on floor
4.
5.
just keep going as if you were coming home to look at your tank for the first time after a long weekend.
Then make sure he/she knows what to do if something is wrong (phone number? person?)
All comes down to planning.
AND a big ATO resevoir! Or bottles of water ready to be poured in on a weekly bases.
