Water Test

Ok so just had a water guy come by and test my water. History.

GF doesn't like taste of house water, water has softener, old unit not sure how good it works, go thru seemingly excessive ro/Di filters. Skip to today's results

Hard water 25 units
Softened water 5 units

Tds of system range from 1130-1190 both hard and soft

Hard water has little to no iron but has lime in it creating the high TDS

Soft water has sodium and lime from softening process creating high TDS

Ro water showed a TDS of 150 but I'm not completely sure that was positive results as I was forcing system to make ro with it half apart, my vertex system isn't set up for feeding ro output, only Di. Di system currently reads 0tds as I just replaced filters last weekend.

So long story short, it's hard for me to make good water, so new kinetic premium system has been ordered. Let's hope it makes things better.

Don't take this the wrong way but I see a simple solution. The answer is found in this line
"GF doesn't like taste of house water,..."

Way too much money. You can get a good softener for $1200 taxes in. With 5 year warrenty and a service team.
Yes your softener isn't working, but IS working partially. You may only need the softener adjusted.

Pm me. Your in my service area.

Are you going to Fragfest? I'm bringing a BIG door/silent auction prize, that would be right up your alley as far as water taste in your house. You have to be there though.

But seriously, If anyone needs a new water softener in Oxford county, I can get you a good price, from 1 of 2 companies that I sub-contract for. Keep in mind that I don't sell the cheap big box crap. Only quality here. The stuff I sell can also be upgraded.;););)

Thanks it's. Yes I'll be there. I am going to need to upgrade a full house big blue system as well. My smaller system just can't keep up to my filtration needs.

Not sure if they are doing silent auction. Was bringing it just in case. Better to donate it than have it sit on shelf for another year or more. A customer ordered it, then backed out after I chased him for 2 months to install it.
If no silent auction we can discuss donation to the event charity.

So last week we got the new water system put in. Wow she's a beauty, but for the price it better be.

So I currently ha be 2 RO systems and more filtration then you can shake a stick at.

Water comes in from the well goes thru a 50 sand screen, to a 20 micron 10x4.5 then to another 10 micron 10x4.5 then there's the dual canister Kinetico softener tanks, out to a 5 micron 10x2.5 then passes thru a whole house UV filter. From there there is a water over water RO unit to feed a drinking tap in the kitchen above.

Now here's the fun part. Over in my fish room now I have relocated my vertex RO/DI system and placed a T in the back to be fed from the Kinetico RO system only to supply DI water, I then also have a main feed for making water using the whole system.

At this time I still run a gravity ATO but with this new system I could easily feed my gravity float with the Kinetico RO/DI feed line rather then my top up tank. Still playing with it as I just got the remaining fitting I needed to tap into it today.

Make sure there are no drafts around that window, or you will be replacing 1/2 your stuff come winter. Waterlines in front of a window are never a good idea. I've replaced a few units over the years where this is the cause of a flood... Hopefully you have no problems though.

Was this the guy from Stratford that put it in?

5star from kW did the install. The furnace is directly beside the water and I keep a small electric ceramic heater on standby. It's close to the window but not that close, just a poor angle for the picture. I also need to run a heater for the line out to the well. If the temps dip below -20° they freeze.

Wow, Will you be drinking any of this water or is it only for the fish?

No most of that in the picture is for whole house filtration, the fish just get lucky and get some too.

It was the gf that didn't like the well water much. So in order to get a hot tub I had to upgrade the water for her.
