3. Do you like maybe a few pros/ cons ?
4. Did yours come with a tds meter or did you buy one (and much much)

I want one but don't want to drop $300 on one I won't be happy with , so some advice from you guys would be great !

My tank is a 40 gallon ATM . May up grade down the road to a 90-120 gallon.

I Think @Pipes may still have one for sale in the dry goods section. I have a maxwater 75gpd 6 stage system that I picked up used and replaced all of the filters. total cost was $200 ish I wish it had a booster pump.

I use Spectrapure Maxcap 5 stage system. Got it from reefsupplies.ca. Cost north of $300 plus taxes. Mine came with TDS meter for the input and output, and manual flush.

I love it. Easy to use.

I have the vertex deluxe puratek with the booster pump and dual tds meters etc. Bought at a crazy good price off a TFT member who was getting out....

Did decades of tap water for fish and nems while I was in London but found in the small town that water was too inconsistent season to season especially for SPS. Then used a regular 5 stage for years with good performance (house water pressure is quite high which helps) but now that we are on sewers so we are double charged on water usage and since my new build will be 700+ gallons total system...I wanted something more efficient and a booster pump system is the only way to get a better good/waste ratio.

What dose a booster pump do ?
it boosts the input water pressure to 90-100psi and brings you closer to a 1:1 ratio of good to waist. its recommended to use one used when your incoming pressure is below 40psi, RO membranes need a min pressure to operate correctly. the water pressure at my house is typ 60psi but once one of the kids is in the shower and you start doing the dishes it drops below 40psi. I try to plan my water production around the family rite now:rolleyes:

I only have the residential system which comes with a kitchen sink tap and pressure tank, so will be more than a aquarium model. I will warn you, and everyone, to be careful with the newer quick change units. Better to stick with the older style standard sump units.

Vertex unit with booster pump and TDS meter. When I was replacing my BRS one...vertex seemed to have the best good water to waste water ratio.

1. What brand do you have

Spectrapure 90 gallon per day.
2. How much did it cost

Almost $300 with tax I think.
3. Do you like maybe a few pros/ cons ?

The pressure gauge stopped working for a bit, but it's fine now.
4. Did yours come with a tds meter or did you buy one (and much much)

Mine has a single meter with dual probes that measure before and after the DI stage.
I also have a Hanna TDS-3 handheld that I use for double checking on occasion as well as checking the storage brute.

I want one but don't want to drop $300 on one I won't be happy with , so some advice from you guys would be great !

You won't regret it. It's one of my favorite purchases, the good reviews are accurate IMO.

I could use a booster pump (45psi) but it has been working well for 3 years now. (Membrane dated Jan 2014) Once or twice it started to read a TDS or two, now it's back to zero so I just roll with it. lol Maybe I will get some new filters for it this winter.

I do have a whole house carbon filter and water softener, I'm sure that helps. I keep the filter wet, use it at least every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. I supply water for my 2 or 3 tanks, as well as my Brothers planted tank, I maybe make about 20-40 gallons a month I guess.

I store the water in a 20 gallon Brute that has wheels. It holds about 17 gallons to the float valve.

Just to add, when i first got into reefing I used to buy a couple of 5 gallon jugs of ~ 012 to 014 TDS water every Friday from the water market. While I didn't mind this ritual at first, it is a luxury to be able to have 000 TDS water on tap and not have to ration water for saltwater changes and top offs. Anything larger then a couple of nano makes it impractical to purchase water anyways.

As far as cost, I forget what i was paying at the water market, but I'm sure it's more then the $8/ month this unit has cost over 3 years. (Plus Brute.)

Also I forgot to mention my tap water is ~223 TDS before the RODI and after the household filter, I don't know what the TDS is at the street.

There aren't many good options other then Spectrapure, IMO. The systems work well, the membranes are culled fresh, they also specialize in restaurant equipment etc.
I even tried to build a system with two different local water markets, it would have been 3 or 4 times the price of a nice Spectrapure unit, plus the hassle of getting the right parts and assembling it, as the sales people were only familiar with "RO" and not the "DI".
