So I glued down a frag (with the stem snipped off) to a rock the other day, using ecotech glue.

It wasn't getting enough flow so I pooped it off the rock to move it and I saw this red crap between the plug and the glue I put down. It was NOT there when I glued it down a few days ago, and this stuff almost looks like rust but it is a brighter red color. I see no movement of any organisms.

Now I have encountered this before and I had just figured maybe I had missed something, like maybe it was there before I mounted the disc, but this time I am 100% sure it wasn't there. It is between the ceramic disc and the glue I put on, it hasn't gone anywhere else. What could this be?

I think it's an algae or bacteria or something.  Maybe feeds on they decaying material from the "wound".  Nothing to worry about.  Stop putting corals on and off of plugs and you won't see it ;)

Did you read my original post???

It is between the plug/disc and the glue I dabbed on it to attach the thing to the rock. Has nothing to do with the live rock it was attached too or the coral that is on the plug.

The red stuff is between the plug and the glue I put on to initially attach the plug TO the rock. I noticed this because when I removed the plug from the rock, the glue stayed behind, attached to the live rock and I saw this red gunk.

Did you read my post?  Stop taking stuff on and off and you'll never see it!

If you have a cut frag, there's a wound.

Bacteria and mould is everywhere.  Ever see that pink mould that you get on a shower curtain?

How do you know what it has to do with and what it doesn't ? I mean you were asking that question, so do you already know ? If so the original post was pointless

The way Glen worded his response, it was between the coral and the plug, not the plug and the glue.

That is why I could debunk his response.... Unless the coral is bleeding through the ceramic plug with no other visable signs...
