My light broke above my macro algae about a month ago, I never bothered to fix it as I was planning on taking it out anyways,
Reading this thread sparked the preverbal light bulb in my head, my major cyano issues started about a 3 weeks ago....
Nevertheless a new bulb went in tonight and I'm going to see what difference it makes

Funny when I just recently added cheato I found my tank when out of control with cyano. So I took it out, went a year without ever seeing it. I'm running pellets, it's almost counter productive to use both.

the most accurate is the hanna HI736 ULR Phosphorus Checker, its a good idea to but the extra reagents too.

i run both, i dont know if i need it tho.. i can say for sure im always in the .03 or lower category and my macros grow like crazy in my sump. if you want some mike i have lots. pods flourish in the macro algae, thats for sure so i cant see it hurting anything. you need to light your sump 24/7 with a small compact florescent bulb or something similar

OK thanks. I will buy some off you. I will look into setting it up this weekend. I have too rearrange the sump first.
I might as well get a phosphate checker also
Thanks everyone for the help.
