so instead of washing and reusing the sand that came with my system because I think it would prolly be a royal pain in the a$$ I was thinking of just getting new stuf.....what should I buy? And where's got the best price? Is there any "live" sand? All my live rock is dried so I have no "life source" for any marine bacteria when I start my cycling

Whichever dry sand you use (and I agree with the above), rinse rinse rinse, and then rinse some more. And use something like Dr. Tims One and Only, as well as ammonia to seed the tank.

Not that I am disagreeing with you but, there have been members lately that have tried to rush the cycle and they have had issues with their tanks, I prefer to do it without chemicals, you can't rush mother nature. Patience is the key..

I'm soon to tear my sump down and go with a bigger sump, at that point I will be removing my sand bed which is very live. I was thinking of ways that I can offer live sand for members in the future, game plan is to do a trade idea, bring me a margarine container full of dry sand I'll return one that is live, I'll likely do this starting next year as I still need to build a bench and plumb for new sump.

You do know that there is potential here for a disaster right?
Depending how and where you're planning on scooping sand out of in your system, it can really upset the ballance of things in that system. Especially if it's in a fuge that has a dsb. There is a reason for dsb and the lack of maintenance required. You will be disrupting bacteria at different levels of the dsb which might in turn cause a LG reduction in Micro fauna and depending the depth you go. Due to the reduction of O2 at lower levels for anaerobic bacteria. You may end up killing portions of bacteria in your dsb. Which could cause you algae issues.

I'm not saying it can't be done. But be cautious about how you're planning on doing this.

If I were you and you really wanted to offer live sand. I'd set up in a frag tank a thin layer of sand less than an inch with live rock on it to seed it to live. Then scoop and replace from there rather than a fuge or any location of a dsb.
