They look just like the one pulpfiction has listed in the dry goods section.  Maybe he can chime in about whether his leaches anything.

I would imagine those white rain barrels that pulp has on the classifieds would not leach. It's that white hard plastic that's would be the best ones to use. IMO .. I have no experience with them but I bet they would work, I was going to grab one of them.

i have a 70gal hard white plastic one that doesnt leach: tds or p04, ive tested it several times over the period of months and nothing shows up, it is almost always full of rodi water as well.

but i also have a 50g black rain barrel, which i have never gotten a reading other than 0.00 on my hanna p04 checker

Well I like a good debate even if it seems to be going in circles lol... all I can say is I make this plastic at work, I make all plastics at work and the only thing we alter when we are transitioning from normal plastic to food grade is the clarity of the plastic, all the same chemicals are used. Now this is the front lines and my company sells this plastic to companies that make, say rain barrels, so what they add can change the outcome of what could possibly leach, which is why I stick to clear white barrels because all that is is the front line plastic that we make locally melted and put in a press, nothing would need to be added like coloring, but then again I don't work at a plastic molding company so I can't be sure.
I think there's more that gets through my RO/DI filter or coming from the processed fish food then would ever come from a white clear barrel.
Like anything in this hobby you just have to decide for yourself, what works for one may not work for the other. I've always liked to stay away from over-thinking in this hobby or reading to much into this or that and I've never had a crash or a big problem... but you guys will be the first to know if, or as some would say when, it happens lol.

Cheers

I ran a sample through the gas spectrometer at work and it came out the same as what comes out of the RODI unit. That said I do not check up regularly on the po4 level in the brute can.  may I need to have another look :)

I would be interested in what the results are. I use a brute.

At work I get food grade products in white blue and black barrels.  Our pharmaceutical grade products come in white or blue barrels.

Food grade doesn't mean it won't leach... just that it won't leach anything harmful for human consumption.

Tap water is food grade too...full of chlorine...chloroamines...copper..etc. Just at acceptable levels for humans to consume...
