Well I came home tonight from a usual Sunday night drinking beer n watching football. Went downstairs to see the tank before bed only to find my tank complete black out. No power. Ensue panic. Check gfi, reset. Nothing. Check panel, reset breaker, reset gfi power restored. Wtf. Overlooking the tank I notice the light on my heater flickering. 2 sec later BANG! Power out. Ok. Now I'm mad. Reset power, unplug heater. Pull out heater. It's shattered in half. This is the second heater I've had shatter. I,wonder how long it's been leaking stray voltage. I've lost9 fish in two weeks I thought to iCh. Maybe the iCh was brought on by stray voltage.

Anyway I need a new heater now. My temp is at 73. Any recommendations? I remember ppl talking about ebo jäger. I'm done with pets, art shit. What happened to phi dealt reefer. He knew all about this topic. I have about 200 gallons of water

That sucks hard... I had stray voltage from my ato float switch lucky not enough to harm anything
The jager heater is supposed to be pretty reliable from what I read
Which heater model did you have?

That's Horrible. I have had a heater break it is scary. If you want to warm up your water a bit try ziploc bags full of the hottest water from the tap. I still like to clip them to the tank in case they were to open. its slow but that not a bad thing. Will get you thru the night.

I run Ebo-Jagr heaters in my tank without any issues. I have 3 x 250 watt heaters in my 180g. That way, if 1 goes down, I still have enough to maintain my temps. I have been running these heaters for over 2 years with zero issues.

Ebo jäger here, have a 250 and a 300w. Wish I had like 4 100w ebo jäger instead. Haven't had any issues, just too long.
