As some may have seen I had a G5 to G6 Blue upgrade kit for sale. It did not sell so I just did the upgrade.
The upgrade could not have been simpler. Just a few screws and then a calibration in Mobius and all is done. Took no more then 15 minutes, and I am a few pops in tonight.
Start updating your lights firmware. There are several warnings to do this before you get started. Next remove the 4 screws for the cover. Then remove the 6 from the lens to remove the lens from the LED board. There are 2 screws holding a small power board to the LED board that need to be removed as well. From there just put the old board aside and reverse what you did with the new board. They include a new optic lens cover as well as new screws and all the Torx bit tools needed to do the project. Such a simple upgrade. If anyone hears of someone needing a replacement LED board for a XR15 G5 Blue, I got them covered
I didn't dare take before and after photos of my tank. A month or so ago I lost all my livestock, most likely my own fault and dosing too much to get rid of a major cyanobacteria and algae break out. I am currently rebooting the entire set up and making a themed tank.
