I wonder how long a frag would survive in a balloon up in my bum.  Some of these pieces would be worth the discomfort.
make sure you get peices without too many sharp or pointy edges or branches.
ouch!

http://www.advancedaquarist.com/events/michigan-coral-expo-swap-january-27

http://www.cherrycorals.com/product.php?productid=9853&cat=139&page=1

Attendance last year exceeded 650 hobbyists from across the midwest. There were 45 vendors with tanks full of outstanding corals and fish. Many also had dry goods for sale. Each year has been larger than the last and to accommodate our continued growth, this year we have moved to a larger and much nicer facility. MCES will be in the Grand Ballroom of the Best Western Hotel located at 6820 S. Cedar Street, Lansing, Michigan 48911.

In addition to vendors from across the country, MCES will feature an outstanding livestock and dry goods raffle. It will also include a mini-conference that will occur prior to and during the expo.

More information about this event…If you don't go YOU SUCK!

I can understand why you say that guys, but here is another picture from a different vendor, from  (Black GrandPrix-which is Kee's Aquarium), this one you can see the base coralites look different than goni, and is encrustiong down the sides....

Here is one of the red goni's tha Pacific East mAquaculture will bring-Dr Mac Corals: which i think you are referring to: on page #5 of this thread

http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/pacific-east-aquaculture/600-new-corals-24719/

You know what I'm changing my mind and going with either Montipora or Stylocoeniella. I looked a quite a few encrusting goni's pics and the polyps have more tenticles.

Check out this Stylocoeniella coral....

Hey Rick...i think you might be on to something there with Stylocoeniella.

As far as a gonis  tentacles they can be retracted like that for long periods of time.....

I have a purple/green goni, looks like a monti encrusted ball when retracted now that you mention that Darryl.

I pm'd the guy and this is the result...

You are right that's the goni I have I don't have a mother colony pic sorry.

That picture makes it seem like a gonipora.....are you sure this is a montipora?

Thanks for your time.

Hey.

Any left?  I havent heard of this one...is it a good grower?  got a picture of the mother colony?

thanks

I do have about 4 left. I named it so that may be why you haven't heard of it. It seems to grow well already healing up on the frags a week later.

Not sure if that means it was the wrong picture and he has two pieces, one being a goni and one being a monti or what?????  I think I've bugged him enough though.

I think the most important part was....I was RIGHT! and he admitted that picture was of a gonipora.  Strangely still dont know if the picture of the frag he posted is the same thing.

I think this seconds your nomination as the official coral wiki.

Still, isn't that total BS?  Taking care of a goni is WAAAAY different than taking care of a monti.  Personally I've be a bit freaked if my monti suddenly sprouted stalks. lol.

I'm sticking with Stylocoeniella. All of the Stylocoeniella pictures have exactly 12 tentacles on each polyp, which is the same as the fireball. Goniopora's have between 20-30 per polyp. The fact that the polyps are so similar makes me think that it is a Stylocoeniella.

Rick.....your a genius buddy.  Either way its definitely not a montipora.  I dont know how hard those Stylocoeniella are to keep?  Probably easier than a gonipora....especially one with retracted polyps.

I had the last few days off work so I had an abundance of time. Apparently enough time to count tiny tentacles.  ;D

This is a relativity new coral so much is known about it. After searching the web for almost an hour...I found only a few pics and even less info on the coral.

From what people are saying... the coral is just like most SPS.. moderate to high flow and high lighting. It's a slow grower but easy to care for.
