I've had hit or miss results with the TP Link power line adapter. It worked really well on the main two floors but hit or miss to the basement. It's good for browsing but we use a secure encrypted program for work that disconnects even if the connection goes down for a nanosecond.
Another option might be using dd-wrt. If you have an old router laying around this will basically make it able to receive the wireless signal and you can connect any device to the 4 ports. I have my apex hooked up like this. It's a free option but might not work in this case.
