Not sure if I missed reading the persons name that welded that stand...but are you sure that weld will hold the weight of the system? Typically the top square is welded on top of the vertical bars so downward weight is transferred down the bar, as the tank sits now, all that weight will be supported by the weld tack only.

Absolutely love the tank and tying it into the main set up with the ability to isolate it. Great ideas.

Well I'm no engineer.....  Wait a minute yes I am actually :)

The stand will be more than strong enough. Its just a 30ish gallon tank with a 20g WC tank beside it.

I guess time will tell but I am pretty confident

Wow Speechless!  Now that is my kind of tank.  Hold on let me go and get my coffee.... I am starting from page 1.  Beautiful!

Nice to see American's drooling over a northern reef ^^ it's usually the other way around, all too often atleast.

Frag tank is in!
Wish I had time to do a nice photo session of the dismantling and rebuild but just not enough time
They most exciting part was scaring the crap out of the two guys helping me when they found a 3ft corn snake behind the old frag tank.
We live in an old old Amish built farmhouse where code was not exactly high on the priority list. We have holes so we have mice and now apparently we have snakes LOL

Here is the finished product, very happy how it turned out

A little closer

Somewhat cloudy but I had dosed a little coral snow to help the skimmer get as much gunk out of the water as possible
Pretty smooth transition really with no immediate losses
Moved the Sailfin to the main display and also added a pair of Naoko's Fairywrasse
and a filefish that will hopefully eat some aptasia. Some people have reported Filefish to nibble SPS but I though it was worth the chance as Aptasia are now starting to sting the base of corals. I added 6 tiny berghia but I think the Aptasia ate them !

All my fish get along pretty well, my biggest issue is carpet surfing, I have all the stuff to make the screen top but keep putting it off, I hate the look. Lost another wrasse Sunday so I better get to it

The Sailfin was in my frag tank, used him as a bubble algae eater. Just put frag or rocks or anything with BA on it and it would be gone in 10 minutes. He was too big for the new FT though so he went upstairs

Im not huge into Chalice but the ones I really like I pick up, cant afford SPS AND a Chalice collection :)

Im awful on names, truly I am, not just fish but coral, people, cities, st names. I think I have some kind of deficiency. I have one Sunburst left of 3, Lyretails x 4, Evansi x 3 and a couple of Bartlets. I love the colour these guys bring.

I saw one tank where a guy used the chromed eggcrate on the top to keep the fish in.  It actually looked really good and supposedly helped diffuse the light.  Just a thought over using some sort of screen (which I know collects salt creep).

Nice looking tank btw ;)

More funny starfish pics

This guy is very amusing, fun to watch! Here I found him bogarting the food disc I had put in for the fish, the tank had just been dosed with Coral Snow
20130608_234031_zps518d217e.jpg

And a closeup with flashlight, within a few hours he had eaten the entire disc then moved off to a new adventure

Thought I would put up something amusing today
