Yea I don't have patience either, but you'll learn through your mistakes then.
The keys to a successful tank IMO:

RELIGIOUS water changes, make a schedule and stick to it. With rodi water
Lots of water movement
Bio pellets
Gfo- swapped out every 4 weeks
Keep your bio load light, it makes everything a helluvalot easier

Those are the biggest things,
No I ran tanks for a long time without them and keep fish and lps and soft coral no prob, but I was never really happy
But now I'm actually proud of my reef
tank :)

Hope the weather is nice, it's pretty cruddy today out there.

Well luckily it's indoors ;)

The outside area is covered, the bar area is inside downstairs (they said everyone is welcome to dance ), and at least it's supposed to be warm.  If it's pouring the group standing out in the line will be mighty grumpy.  I'll be sure to come out in a raincoat and give a real long speech before letting them in.  8)
