Tap water, yep done that. Way underestimated the volume and time rodi was going to take. Filled it with a hose attached to the laundry sink, brought up the temp, dumped in salt, ran carbon and GFO for 3 days, added 2 bottles of bacteria (if that is what is in it) added bio pellets and 3 days later in went the corals and fish. No algae, no bloom and more importantly no deaths.

it does work, just not recommended if trying to run a ULN like salty ;)

Im on a well and have used that water for the past year with no carbon, no gfo, and no skimmer for the most part. Fish are fat and healthy, some corals like mushrooms and zoas, as well as a few acros thriving, ( others not so much)
