I dont know how many times ive emailed ads or responded to people who replied to my ads to get absolutely nothing as a reply,
send them some more messages politely asking whats up and if their still interested in selling/buying and not even so much as a NO.
Or agree on a price and have people come over and offer me less, or go some where and they up the price when i get there, etc etc etc etc. Or just the plain idiocy that goes into posting ads,

A story some of you know is i purchased a tunze wavebox off of someone on kijiji, they came over and traded it for some coral and cash,
long story short, pump was fried, seller never answered my emails, calls, or texts and basicly ripped me the F**K off...
oh well...

But latest incident pushed me over the edge,

I had an ad out looking for some scuba tanks for paintball, so guy replied to the ad, saying he had exactly what i needed, so we agreed on a price, and a meeting place, and i literal went to the meeting place, and called him up, hey where are you?, no reply nothing... so after 30min i left and went home, he called back that night saying he was sorry and got caught up in something personal blah blah, whatever, ok so i can see that.... so then i ask him when he wants to meet again and he says later that week.... (this was last week)

I sent him 3 texts asking what time worked for  him, no reply

Then i get a text this morning saying, sorry i sold them to someone else....
I got pissed called him and asked why he didnt sell them to me, and he literally says, no joke, I WASNT SURE IF YOU WHERE INTERESTED OR NOT SO I SOLD THEM TO SOMEONE ELSE.....

All i said was: KARMAS A BITCH, and hung up.....

im still fuming... i literal went somewhere to meet this douche and he never showed up and hes not sure if IM interested?!

sorry for the rant... had to get it out of my system... feel free to posts your kijiji stories on here

Listen, I just wasn't sure if you really wanted them when you asked for $5 off the price, so I sold them to my dentist!

Heh, petercar will likely think it's really me.

I'd still like to know who emailed you with my old addy.  Anyone want to fess up?

If it makes you feel better I get a TON of the same thing, it's not quite as fucked up as craigslist (A guy agrees to pay you $1000 for a used truck but when he shows up he instead wants to trade you some old eggs and a stuffed moose), but it's getting there.  I think the big problem is you don't have to verify your identity like on ebay...there's no contract, written or implied.

A friend of mine is an RCMP officer, he says he goes to so many calls about people getting ripped off on kijiji that he really wishes the site would be shut down.

I was selling my old POS pickup truck for like $800, guy emails me and says he will trade me for a POS Bronco, I said 'Im clearly trying to get rid of my own junk, why would I want yours?'

My wife sells some shit on Kijiji, but I have a rule, nothing less than $100, because the people that are attracted to cheap shit are not people I want coming to our house.

I agree with Salty, i think they should create a system that requires an account with a credit card linked, and have a rating system... none of these douche monkey f**k nuts would do that.
Basically like ebay.

I dont really BLAME kijiji per say, its just shows how messed up people are.

and ya, someone also replied to one of my kijiji ads with Salty Crackers old email and number.... anyone wanna admit to it?

its kijiji, same shit since it started, will never change, there are other places to sell if your not getting the results you like

True, but don't get me wrong, not ever deal I do is bad, I meet plenty of nice people and honest ppl as well...
I don't think it will change if you use a diff site. There's people on here that are questionable and if you call a classified in the newspaper your going to find questionable people as well....
I just wish more people believed in karma or some form of it, Would solve alot of things..

Hey...I love the free section there lol. My wife and I live on kijiji. Lots of bad deals, but even more great deals. My last bad deal was buying substrate.  I bought 3 5gal buckets off someone and my mistake was only opening 2...the third was a bag of concrete powder :/. But that was my own fault for not looking.

How do people scam people at their own home? I mean, are you not worried those people might come back?
Well you see, these people are characteristically dumb... They don't think that through or they just lie and says it's your fault ,

Same with email, I know people who have been scammed and in revenge sign that persons email or cell # up for porn, spam or whatever and basicly force them to change their phone number lol

I know a guy who did this to his landlord, then his last month he left the bathtub running, all month long (utilities were included).

I am a believer that the world has more good people than bad, however a small number of bad people on kijiji scares away a large number of good people, hence why the numbers are so disproportionate. Didnt AP used to have a large number of great users, now nobody uses it because of one bad apple, namely the guy who runs the site?

True, but then there's the guy that answers the ad, shows up and the item is EXACTLY as described, and they still try to jew you down once they show up.  That's the shit that grinds my gears.  Of course, I kind of enjoy those guys... "so why, did your wife leave you?  Lose your job? Can't read? Owe alimony this month? Cigrits getting too expensive?  Lose at the casino last night??"    I love being a nice guy, but I also know there are people out there that are hell bound to "get a deal".  Ask for a lower price, but do it before you get there and waste everyone's time.  If the price says FIRM, then guess what?  :)

Also Pos...people don't have to believe in Karma, it gets them anyway.  If someone's got to rip you off, it's likely because their life is shit (and they don't know that it's their own actions that make it shit).

Sorry, cranky this morning here...someone put up wind chimes and they chimed all night long.  Karma gonna take care of those wind chimes tonight.    ;D

Lucky I have never had any major issues on kijiji...
One no show once for a meet, but he had excuses and eventually bought it in the end.
Tones of no email replies but thats pretty much expected.

Would be nice if they had a rating or feedback system though.

I look at this way. It's a free service you can take advantage of, you should be able to filter through tire kickers to find the people that are serious.

Don't be stupid though and use it at your own risk.

Jerry has the right idea it's one of those things you pay your money and take your chances kind of thing .a rating system might be okay but I never had much faith in those.

in order to have a rating system you need to have accounts that require some sort of verifiable identification.
i know its a free service... and im not really blaming kijiji for my experiences, im just expressing my frustration with douche bag scum that don't know what common courtesy is.

And Salty, if they believed in Karma, then they would be more careful with how the acted, thats half the point, to prevent the idiocy before it happens lol.
