Got my 72 inch bulbs today. Ordered 3 years worth once I finally found them in stock someplace lol.

Made a couple changes today. First I finally got the Bubble Blaster 5000 hooked up to my skimmer - that was a disaster! I ended up gluing together my own fitting by hacking up several others. But the end result is worth it. So much quieter than the Sicce Psk-2500s, seems to do just as well or possibly better of a job, and less microbubbles leaking out.
This is the fitting I hacked together. It fits inside of the union which came with the Bubble Blaster, and the threaded part that sticks out of the union screws into the union attached to the skimmer body.

Seems to be producing nice foam straight away, can't wait until it settles in.

Next I pulled down my light fixture and attached the vho gear. I hit a bit of a snafu when hanging the light back up though.... right after turning all the lights on for a test, one of my steel cables came loose! The fixture very nearly fell into the water, but was stopped by the euro bracing thank god! Anyway I got it fixed and it looks fantastic :D.

Wow, that was a close call! May be a good idea to have two sets of cables set up in case one fails again. Then the other can catch it.
It is looking very nice Phil.

$1 gets you an extra set of cable crimps...

I would also use a chain or something solid. Attached to the joists, and to the lights at their lowest point. If the cable fails (again) It will only fall to the chain, not your tank.

I think JT's suggestion with the chains would be the easiest fix for you. You could fix the chains near the ends of your tube assembly and secure to the rafters very easily.

Thanks everyone :D

I did some aquascaping this evening. Not entirely sure if I am done or not... going to sit on it for a week or so and see if any ideas come to me. With things as they are I managed to create something similar to what I was imagining, and all my corals are displayed in places that are relatively close to being ideal in terms of their light and flow requirements.... so I'll probably leave it as is. I was just imagining the left island to be a bit bigger and longer, and toying with the idea of getting some more liverock to accomplish that.
