I'd move those bulk heads to the back of that box if I could, Give the box more room to process the water.

Yes, I think the notch out of the euro bracing is messing up his mental picture of the set up.It may look funny as the tank has a thick euro bracing

Another point I'd like to add, Your drains, You may find that once installed and completed, with what ever plumbing you do, Flexible hose or solid pipe is that as the water goes through those two elbows that their will be quite a bit of noise. I would of put two Tees there with caps on the top and a hole drilled in the Caps, Mark help me out here, you want that to be quiet. The Tee set-up will allow any air to escape before travelling into the sump and it will be quiet.
The top of the Tees or where the caps are will have to higher than the water line in the tank. You can extend the height with piping, These are just suggestions Jerry, Trying to save you the frustration of a noisy over flow.
I'm not totally familiar with the Herbie, Both those drains are at the same height, I suppose you could restrict one drain to a trickle using valves. But with that size of tank and the fact that it will have two returns, I would suggest moving more water using two drains. I could be wrong here as well. Not sure what you'll be using for a return pump. Looking at the room in your sump and the fact that'll have to push the water as far as it will with two returns tell me that you won't be firing the water through the system, So yes perhaps only the one drain will be required.
I fail to see the location of the mini fridge...you know, where you are going to keep your...uhhh...frozen food, ya...food for the fish.
Im using a 1.5" drain for my full siphon and i hve the gate valve almost closed, and mines a 135, 1 1" trickle one 1" emerge. So mine can definately handle alot more flow.
