Im keeping it like this most of the day with the blues coming on strong after dinner, the white is kinda nice, this fixture does white much nicer than my DIY setup does.

Well it was rather short lived... Heater broke today while I was at work... Not looking so good now. Probably lost the anemones

Sorry to hear that.

That has to be so frustrating. You were on your way to a pretty neat little setup.

What kind of heater was it? Did it just explode?

ah its not nearly as bad as i thought.. i rushed home from work.. after the tank was juiced for 4-5 hours.. there was anemone pieces and guts and florescent zooanthalia algae or whatever its pronounced everywhere.. i did a water change last night and luckily i was too lazy to dump that water out.. so i took all the rocks and anemones did a quick dip rinse with that and added it all to the sump of my main display tank.. you could see right down to the foot in the anemones mouths.. i for sure thought they were toast and debated leaving them in my tank for fear that it would get nuked while i was gone for the next 7 hours.. i then added like 5 cups of carbon to a filter sock and threw it on the return line in the new tank.. moved my main skimmer down to that tank and fired it up to with the new little skimmer.. 7 hours later.. the cup in full of the worst smelling stuff i've ever seen in a skimmer.. all 36 clown fish made it.. the tank is fairly clear now.. and i have 50G of RO made up already.. so the plan is do a 50g water change and start over.. its looking like somehow ALL the anemones are going to pull through.... its a freaking miracle.. ill post a picture of the disaster in a bit.. the wife txt me a picture and was like.. somethings wrong.. the fish are twitching and the anemones are falling apart.. talk about not what you want to hear while being stuck at work 25 minutes away.. she shut it all down for me and actually noticed the heater before i got home.. a GFI would have prevented this i think.. correct?

I have a bubble tip I'd be more then willing to donate to your recovery.  Still in disbelief over what happened.

Aquaclear 70 300W ... i was stupid to even put it in any tank.. but i had it here and didnt want to use my spare ebo.... what a mistake..

im worried if heaters can leech anything into the tank or if the damage was just from the stray voltage. i left some hairy mushrooms in there that were melting and spewing gunk just like the anemones.. they still look like shit so i dont know really what i should be doing.. there was a couple dead mini brittle stars.. but all the hermits are good to go..  any suggestions on what to do next?

or a controller

what would that have done for me? the heater exploded in the tank.. the water was 77.3 when i got home.. i wouldn't have been notified by my controller if this happened on my main display..

If you have something in your tank that is grounded (which you likely do) then the GFI would have likely tripped. But it's possible that it wouldn't. Honestly you really need to put a GFI on there. If your wife had of put her hand in the tank, it could have been real bad.

Please spend the $15 and get one.
