I just picked up a half dozen from CRS today. How do you get them to eat Aiptasia ?

Do I stop feeding the tank for a week? Shrimp are scavengers and they will eat anything they can find right? Why would the pick Aiptasia if there was other food available?

Large rock with aipstasia on it, put it in a tank with the shrimp only and let nature take its coarse from there. Some people use their sump to train them. Mine just started in the tank. It took them a few days to start snacking on them though.

I put one in my in my tank and it has naturally gone to them to eat it. I wouldn't worry to much about it.... give it some time they will make chow out of it soon enough

same here, I just added mine to the tank and they took care of my aptasia, remember that they tend to be nocturnal or mine are... never see them unless I go looking for them with a flash light...

I picked up one over a month ago and nothing the aiptasia are growing like crazy. I picked up a slug to eat one and put it in the other tank and they are huge! Loonie size.

I have 4 in the 60 and 2 in the 20 do I hope something starts to happen

My guess is you don't have true peppermint shrimp. There are so many subtle variances. Big Als kitchener had a tank labbled as such and I found at least 3 different types in there. I put 15 in my tank and nothing for a few days. Within a week I noticed a lot gone and by end of 2 weeks NOTHING. I almost never see them. One of them made the 50 ft journey down to the sump where I found in a filter sock. Put it in the frag tank where i had some Aiptasia as well and gone in a few days.

Lysmata wurdemanni is the one known for eating aipstasia. Also not to be confused with camel shrimp

Well, I guess I'll see, if I have the right kind. They were sold as peppermint shrimp but never specified as the kind that eat aiptasia. Probably should have paid $30 each for the aiptasia eating nudibranch.

I've never seen my peppermints touch the aiptasia, however it is all gone...

I only had 1-2 aiptasia I could see when I put the shrimp in. I zapped the big one with aiptasia x and haven't seen any since..

I have some really healthy ones, I picked up on some stuff I bought. I have a real mess in the smal, tank. I should take a picture of what an out of control razor caulerpa and aiptasia tank can look like.

I guess i got lucky cause i had dozens, and many were largre. Size of loonies some of them. Thick stems. Like others, I never actually saw them eat anything.
