Ahh missed the update.

Darryl..for looks only, Blues, Royal blues and maybe UV's to 'frost the tips'  For growth, I think out of 30 LEDs I would go 20 RB, 2 Blue, 6 UV and 2 white.  The whites are just too overpowering.  I had sps growth with just royal blues and whites, but things seemed to take off when I added the UVs.  Reds are pretty much useless.

Or just do an actinic strip.  I run 28 bulbs from 6-10 every night because that's my 'viewing' time.

Get off the fence, come out of the closet.

Actually my son came out of the closet this morning...He goes in there to poop his pants...  ;D

I would like to order sometime this week if we can get past $2K, when can you make a decision?

Are you talking UV (400nm) or violet/actinic (410-420nm)?  What mix do you think for 12 LEDS.  Was thinking 8 royal blue, 2 cool white, 2 violet.  I would probably have the optics off the white and violet...hmm

I would love to jump onto this if I could, because all I need is 4 x solderless cree royal blues (http://www.rapidled.com/solderless-cree-xt-e-royal-blue-led/) for a grand total of $14.  However, I don't really feel like driving all the way out to pick up 4 bulbs.  Would it be possible to give you a couple extra bucks to put them in an envelope and mail them to me in Kitchener once you receive them?  Let me know what you think.  Thanks!

Yeah, that wont be a problem at all.

In other news I underestimated my order and i am actually pushing $600, so we are above $2k and ready to go. I have emailed rapid for further instructions. Anyone on the fence, please try to make a decision. I hope to have everything ready to go by the end of the week.

I will update everyone when i hear from Rapid.

Ok here is what RapidLED sent me:

" That sounds great.  If you get me a list of what everyone wants and their Paypal emails I can send invoices to everyone, with the discount on the invoice.

Group buys and wholesale orders don't quality for free shipping, but if it's all going to one location in the US it's usually pretty affordable for everyone (ie. everyone just pays $5 or something like that).  I won't know the exact rate until I get the shipping address and know what exactly it is you guys are ordering (ie. a bunch of heatsinks will of course cost more than a bunch of LEDs).  If anyone wants their items sent separately then let me know their addresses and I'll put a shipping charge on their invoice. "

So, here is how I propose that each individual compiles their order on the RapidLED website, once you are sure it is correct, take a screenshot of your order. Email me the screenshot (a.d.a.m.s.t.a.l.l.a.e.r.t    at  g m a i l . com, without the spaces and periods), along with the email that is attached to your paypal account, and the address you would like the order shipped to.  If you would like the order shipped with mine for me to pickup in Port Huron just say that, it is no big deal. We can arrange distribution of shipments once I pick up the order.

As stated, these orders do not qualify for free shipping, so each person will be responsible for their own shipping. For the orders coming in with mine, I propose that we split the shipping based on the value of each order, as a percentage of the whole.  I can't imagine that it will amount to much.  I will place the order once everyone has their stuff in.

I hope this all makes sense.

Shit.

I f he dings us for shipping that really puts a damper on things.  I mean, if he gives free shipping on individual orders, but doesn't on a bulk buy, then the bulk buy isn't as much of a deal.  I got hit hard for the last order because the heatsink was 5lbs.  Now I want 2 of them.  I might be better off just going solo and having it shipped to my PO box in port huron.  Not being a jerk, but I may be out if that's the shit he's going to pull.

Dammit, isn't there one decent company that does a decent thing?  WTF is the difference between shipping 20 things for free, or one big order for free??

I'm going to contact him direct.  I've given him a lo of business and feel like a fkin idiot sitting here recommending his stuff when he doesn't even stick to his own policy.  Let me see if I can get a real reason why he feels the need to hit us for shipping...because he is giving a discount?

I somewhat agree, i can see charging shipping to canada but not to the US. I was going to wait and see how much the shipping was to port huron, before i complained too much.

He gives free shipping in the US, period.  If he wants to charge shipping he's changing his policy, obviously to recoup his losses, which means it's not a group buy discount at all.

Sure. Doing the math i dont suspect his margins are that high. I was anticipating shipping in the us to be in the neighbourhood of 25-30 total. In which case i can live with it.
