Megh...you can do it lol. For some reason my tank goes against all tang rules. 2 scopa, hippo, powder blue and 2 huge ass foxface. I had a yellow as well, but it did not survive the tank switch :(. Do the tangs, only I would get the orange shoulder in place of the clown. Just be sure to have lots of tank time when introducing any new tang. Lights out when doing it helps and maybe try 2-3 seaweed locations to diffuse some aggression IF there is any.

That's not against the tang rules, they are all different genus'. You are following the rules exactly, FWIW.

Sorry to derail the thread.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, going to see if I can get my hands on a pair o clowns or something hardy to get this tank rocking. I have the artificial 'cycle in a bottle' stuff but wonder just how effective it will be.

Very cool and envious, just got updated.

On the tang selection - 300 gal is a lot of room and can house a clown or shol tang np.
I like the sailfin they are great eaters of algae. Just be sure to check species type. Btw putting in a school of yellow tangs is an awesome sight- check youtube for the vids.

Imo you will need sandsifters including stars (4) nas snails and gobies. Add them as your tank matures- if you let the sand build up with crud and don't keep things airieted you will get algae issues on the sand and solidification of your sand creating dead zones.

btw did you think of adding a trigger?

The 4 cardinal (bengii) won't work - unless you get mated pairs and are lucky.

Thanks for the input Salty, I suppose I was lucky in my previous tank as I had a group of bangaiis and a very assertive female that kept the males holding eggs every month with little aggression between them. I actually raised and sold the juveniles for a time so I may still try it again and if it does not work, I can always sell off the extra pair.
Sandsifters will be coming in due time. As for triggers I had considered it but wanted to keep my bio load low-ish and as such thought that a trigger might be a little heavy on the bio-load.

Boxing day run was good to me, picked up 4 boxes of IO reefcrystals, 10 dispar anthias, 20 nassarius, 20 trochus, 20 tectus, 4 acan frags, 1 meteor shower cyphastrea frag, frozen and dry foods for a total of ~300.00 tax in compared to the ~600.00 it would have cost me.

All in all I am a happy camper, my challenge will be getting the anthias to feed, any suggestions? I was thinking of trying sushi roe as I have read that it is a great high protein food that anthias will readily accept. Just need to find a supplier here in Barrie, if at all possible...

NIce grab! As for the Anthias, I've heard the disbars are hard to get feeding. I ended up with Bi-colours as they are strong feeders. They eat seaweed swell, so they that.
MIne eat everything.

Good luck
