Hey D, I know you'll be looking to get some sort of Coral and with your S.G. being so low You might wanna bump it up again to 1.023 but if nitrite is still present that may stress the fish yet again. So i'm not sure what your plan is. What I might be inclinded to do is set up a Temporary tank like a Quarantine for the Coral you purchase on Sunday and then when your display is ready and the Quarantine is over, then move them to the display. You've got that other tank right?

I do! And that was what I was thinking of doing. I did the water change last night and only bumped salinity up by .01. From what I have read I have .02 more to go to 1.025, so that would be 2 weeks. I am planning on  picking up a smaller tank for the qt as the 20 I bought is still not fully clean....and I didn't ask if copper was ever used - there always seems to be a film on the glass. Anyway, I should be good to go for Sunday. I also have a heater/cooler for the car as it is a longish drive.

Good to hear that you're thinking lol, I've got a Korallia 400 I believe it is, you can have if you want I don't use it at all, it's not much movement but it might be good enough on a small tank. let me know and i'll bring it on Sunday

No, I have a tub right now and I use an airstone and heater. Since my tank is small it's easy to move 6 gallons up and down the stairs as they are small changes. If you wouldn't mind bringing it that would be awesome! Means the qt can be running ASAP!

A little bummed as the guy with the 10g hasn't gotten back to me. I will have to get the 20g running tonight. If I do buy some corals (don't want to go crazy in case I destroy them), can I just do the dip and then put them into my tank, or will the salinity of 1.023 definitely not be good enough?

Drip acclimate anything you buy tomorrow..  IMO,  1.023 isn't going to harm coral..  Just need to acclimate them first..
Then they can go in your dt

If you are unclear how to do this,  look it up online.. Super easy

Giving them a 5-10 minute dip will kill off mostly good and bad hitchhikers for the most part. Depending on what you are buying  softies, lps or sps  Just look the coral / frag over for visual hitchhikers and bugs.  You will learn as you go along with help from others here as well..    See you tomorrow !!  ;D

I thought I would continue with this thread...as...based in help from here, I did purchase 2 frags. To be honest I don't know there names. Acclimated, dipped, turkey basted, rinsed, an in my tank. My wife and I both thought that with the long drive that they would die...and after the dip they looked helplessly bad. BUT, once in the tank, the Zoa (I swear I was told the name, but way too excited to remember) opened up. Wife also picked up a "mushroom" we think. Fingers crossed that we can keep these going :)

i would just stick to your regular schedule, good choices for your first frags, the bottom one is a ricordia which is kind of a mushroom... just cooler ;-)

I had help selecting them from fragbox and madjelly corals! Plus tbh they were my wife's choice :) I am hooked, these things look ridiculous under actinic lights!

Good choices D, easy to keep and they'll get bigger. Glad you didn't go nuts. Take it slow. Let your tank balance out get it where you want and buy another Coral, wait again, buy something else. Be selective and enjoy. Corals are shipped all over the world in bags of water. A trip to Orangeville is nothing. It's different when transporting fish, more water is better and temp. matters.
