Personally I'd only be doing 5-10% wc every week and remain consistent doing it.....
The filter floss is not going to help much in the long run.... That sort of mechanical filtration does not help against dissolved (testable) organics which result in the ammonia, nitrites, nitrates you are seeing..... Eventually po4 can become an issue also. If you are starting to S&D ee diatoms then the cycle has completed and now you are see what a saltwater aquarium can grow if provided with light, organic matter, po4, and silicates....
Keep up with the regular testing and add some more fish..... Get that skimmer tuned in and start running some carbon and GFO..... Look into some sort of bacteria fighting defense like pellets, carbon dosing, etc in order to achieve a ULNS....

So...(I am full of noobie questions btw), if I use chemi pure elite for now, are you suggesting that I get a reactor to run GFO? And what is ULNS?

Thanks! Always learning :) the plugs have the flat part then with a cylinder at the bottom, should I cut the cylinder off at least?

If you have a hole to shove the stock of the plug in thats  good. I usually dont so I take regular side cutters and cut it as close to the bottom of the plug as possible and then expoxy and CA it to where I am going to put it in my tank.

No, I believe chemipure elite is a combo of carbon and GFO... I'm just saying that I run each seperate in their own reactor because I think it's cheaper than running chemipure. ULNS = Ultra Low Nutrient System.....usually obtained by methods such as bio pellets or carbon dosing.... Either way it is like creating bacteria to battle or consume the unwanted organic matter which leads to nitrates and algae.

Just did a WC today and of course spent time with the family. Here's a pic of my new Zoa's and ric. The Zoa looks different as it seems that it extended its edges. Do they look ok?

Added 4 trochus snails today, we'll see how they do :) drip acclimated for almost 4 hours. Is it normal for them to attach to each other?

My trochus are constantly crawling over each other, hitching rides around the tank.

@Marz

They look happy to me. Usually if zoos are not happy because of light or water parameters, they will be closed up. If it's a lighting issue then usually the zoos will respond negatively by closing up when the lights come on if they are getting too much light for example. Are they open when the lights come on, closed when the lights are off, open all the time??

Yes, closed at night? Open in the morning, but not fully, then open when the lights come on...around 11. I like to have the lights on a little late so the kids can see them when we get home

Added 4 trochus snails this week...they are fast fast at eating diatoms. They even moved over to my rocks. I hope there is enough food to keep these guys as they look great!

Thought I would just update with a pic. Adding the snails has been a great experience for myself and the kids. Each morning we wake up and they try and locate where all the snails are :) Here's a FTS.

Clowns are doing great. They love the attention they get from the family. As soon as they see us, they zoom to the front, then they do this face to face dance, where the larger one let's the smaller one know that "she" gets the attention before he does! They are a rather amusing breed that's for sure. As soon as I put my hand in the tank for a water change, she is right there making sure that I am "behaving" in her space. They both spend time watching the snails. So far so good. AND I think the Zoa is growing a new polyp.
A couple more pics

That's great, Any plans for another Coral? Frogspawn and Hammers or Torches are nice, Often branching so you can see when the heads split and get bigger. Nice to see everything is progressing.

I really like the Zoa's. I have talked with Jerry and am planning on picking up a couple more on the weekend. I am hoping to get another fish in the next little while as well. I really want to take it slow and plan out adding corals. I would like to leave space on the right side for an anemone within the year, but a Zoa and ric tank is also fine with me.
As far as the hammers and torches, I love tanks where I can see them sway in the flow. So far my light seems ok, but will have to pay attention to this as my tank evolves :)
