I hated cleaning a skimmer cup that's overflowing - couldn't seem to get to the sink without spilling half on the floor.

For changing water and cleaning the sump... I used to use a python... but replaced it with an mj1200 and some hose. I can get 20g out of my sump and into buckets in just a few minutes. Much better "suction" than a Python too. we have free water but for me I gave up the Python because I didn't want to waste water (even if free) and it seemed to be growing a bit of mold inside the hose after a few years of use.

no I don't pay for water.. I will check into them, bart tried to hook his python to my sink and the fittings don't match.. currently I use a mj400 to pump the water out but my sump has 2" baffles and you can't get the shit out..to put the water back into the tank I use a mj1200 with a 50'hose.. and it takes no time.. the 75g is a snap to clean, I can do a good size water change in less than an hour...

Like I sad Shop Vac works fantastic. Drop water as much as you can and suck out all the nasties, just make sure Vac is large enough for the volume of water that is left.

I think maybe I need to invest in a shop vac.. there was a video out that showed a guy doing something with a lid that turned his shop vac something where the water was sucked out by a hose.. does anyone remember that...not really keen on putting salt water in a shop vac...

You'll need this connect to a sink.

I guess mine would be Skimmer cup and waste collector.

It has been almost 2 months since I cleaned the cup which will be just covered with sludge and as for the collector I have to empty it a least once a week when it shuts down the skimmer and sometimes that 4.3L of Juice can be quite intoxicating. I have gagged a few times. Those I do not look forward to infact I will have to do it tonight as float switch is almost triggered.
