I never thought that I would get hurt in this hobby, but I did today guys. After hearing from you guys I feel a little better. I have spend hundreds of dollars here and are willing to pay full price on the stuff that he sale. Well I will never walk in his door again and that a promise

I think the first to say they will take it should get it not the first to start a conversation. Once an agreed time is set def shouldn't be sold out from under them. I have found this site very good for that kind of stuff. But someone asking a question first dosnt mean they will take it and you might loose the sale with someone rlse

Had the same thing happen on here, agreed to buy something after a certain date. Tried contacting after said date and was told he sold it because i never got back to him...even tho i was marked down as buying it, and told him i coudnt purchase it till after the new year....but what can ya do...it sucks for sure.

Exactly. In all fairness, telling someone you are interested is not saying you will take it. Depending on the item, deals can go that fast as they may be talking to multiple 'interested' people at the same time.
Does it suck somethimes...yes.
Do i think they should have been more transparent...yes.
Did they do anything wrong...no
Business in general is the same. If you buy anything, whether it be a loaf of bread at a store, right up to a car or house. The one who commits and pays for it first gets it, not the person who is interested.

It is not the way I normally do things when I sell here though.

...actually my wife was kind enough to remind me that it has happened 3 times with TFT members...in her opinion TFT is on average worse than kijiji...she blames the predominantly egocentric younger male demographic....C'MON guys we're better than that...

Anyway...2 of the offenders are out of the hobby now and the third is...well anyone can pm me and I will let them know...

In that case I was in the guy's driveway when I got the "sorry I sold it" text...and I still went in and gave him a hand moving a tank so I guess I'm the idiot....or just too effing nice...

I'm also with you first person to contact has dibs, i contact them back and if they don't want it i move down the list. i have also been in the same situation you are in, setting up a sale and pick up day and time only to be told they sold it to someone else.

I have had this type of thing happen to me as well. And one of those times i replied within 3 MINUTES of the post.
I am sorry this happened to a nice guy like Kevin. This behavior is in very bad taste and poor etiquette and I hope you don't have to experience it again @Kevin Tran .

Sure this will work, but in a different situations. You don't just in a middle of a conversation with someone who is going to buy and pick up the phone and sell it to th guys who call! At least give me that chance to buy first. Let me know he have a buyer and if I don't take it he going to give it to the other guy

The owner put it in the bag and sell it to me. Now left you standing their staring at that empty spot where the coral use to be....

I don't know how you feel in that situation, but for me I feel like somebody just touch my d*ck and didn't finish the job

I have been left hanging so many times by buyers that fail to show.
Still find it tough to not sell to the first guy that says they are interested.
Kijiji is first to door with money.
Here, I'd sooner have a smooth transaction knowing that nobody can hide on this forum! So, I usually say first person to say I'll take it, gets it.
