Thougjht i would share this for anyones benefit dealing with coral vue products.. not been a greatest experience for me with my skimmer pump..
Firstly bear in mind now most of their skimmer pumps come only wth two year warranty as against three years. Reef supply honoured thier 3 years waranty which i had got when i purchased my skimmer which enabled me to send my pump to coral vue (US) for diagnoise /repair.
Having spent $45 via Canada post to send the pump was still ok.
Trouble happened when i got a bill from fedex just yesterday for $56.16 for inport duty/custom clearance etc.
Having spent most of my day today trying to challenge this, i was told inhave to pay for this at my cost. Coral vue declared the value of goods to $123 US while shipping back and dis not mention that this is a repair itwm under watranty. I believw that would have helped either reducing or perhaps imply no duty/ charges for import.
So in my opinion if we have any US made product in use in this hobby which carries manufacturers warranty, which sadly most of the freaking items r made there, it does not make sense to me to send them for repairs if something goes wrong during warranty as u will land up spending perhaps half the price of that item in shipping /import charges.
Iam not sure if anyone has faced a similar situation but this is just my recent experience and i am not to pleased with Coral vue..
