Tank is looking great! Definitely time for an upgrade though. Those corals are growing too quick. lol. As for the photgraphy, it is amazing! I especially like that last photo. Truly spectacular. If you ever want a tank to photograph Jordan, you're more than welcome to come by any time. Maybe by the time you're done your Masters I will have enough growth from my SPS for some solid pictures.
As for a custom tank, figure $10 / gallon for Starphyre. My 180G with external overflow cost me exactly $1800. Also, if you are planning on a tank soon, go and buy that Water Blaster HY10000 from Royal Aquariums for $180!!!! That is an AMAZING deal! One of the best pumps and dead silent. I love it. Runs my entire setup. 3 tanks, sump and reactors with a ton of flow still for my main display.
Thanks for the kind words as Jordan has a way of making things look great. My tank isn't at it best at the moment, with my Calcium level at about 200 the time he took those shots! I have been having issues with my calcium doser, it has lost its prime a couple times over the summer leading to wonky water params.
I just noticed your post about the water blaster hy10000. That is a super deal but was also considering one of those DC pumps from Jebao. My thoughts are that I don't really need something too powerful, but highly energy efficient, just enough to pump water from my sump to the DT and maybe run a few reactors.
I've been thinking about these two pumps and just to compare..
water blaster hy10000, 2600 gph, 15.5ft max, 130watts, $180---3 yr warranty
jebao 12000, 950-3170 gph, 15.75ft max, 85 watts, $120 ---? warranty issues
Thanks for sharing your tank's price, that's a really good deal! I would assume it's 1/2 inch glass all around?
Something that is important to me are clean edges without any silicone overhang. There is nothing worse than broken pieces of silicone on the edges of a nice DT.
Derek, from Miracles sent me a few pics of their finished edges, all machined polished
I have done some measuring and it looks like a 180 with a 24 depth is going to be the right choice due to my planned location. I will keep everyone posted. Once again, thanks for the help
