But if the bat urges win... Make sure you record it and post on YouTube.  You would be a reefing celebrity.

Are you sure no one has thrown a penny in your tank or something?  Rusting screws or metal tightening rings?  Any other materials that may be leaching something?  Did you verify your thermometer is correct?

it's likely a coral disease that was introduced with a frag, that's why QT is so important.

Temp on my digital display reads 79, and my floating thermometer in my tank verifies a similar result.

As for pennies or something like that I clean my sump pretty well on my water changes as I always get some crud on the bottom and I did not see anything out of the ordinary.

I was very careful not to have anything metallic when assembling my tank just for this reason.

I have tried dipping with lugols when the initial outbreak occurred with no success

i found better results with medicoral for tissue damage, also you can dip them every couple days for better results, one dip doesn't usually have much affect.

I have horrible luck dipping with lugol's :( 1 success out of about 4 or 5 attempts.  I even undersaturate the tank water vs the instructions (first time did the 40 drops as instructed, then dropped it to 35, then 30).  Everytime I try the coral comes out stained/damaged.  I first tried it with a red monti cap that I found a nudi on and it is finally starting to regrow over the dead skeleton from 3 small spots that survived - 6 months later.  The other ones I have tried are still stained and I'm still waiting to see if they ever recover.

i use brightwell aquatics, i think lugals is lugals and is more of a preventative, medicoral is a treatment.

calling someone a idiot is offensive even if that isnt the intention.  IMO qt'ing corals is not an good option for most people....including me.

I have only purchased corals pretty much from locals and local businesses. No one has been experiencing wipe outs like my tank has or they have just been quiet about it.

Dude, don't worry about it. It is a useless topic, I wouldn't send my corals off to anyones tank just in case anyways.

No point in adding exposure to anyones system for no reason. Doesn't make any sense.
