Kind of jumping backwards, but just been wondering about my api nitrate test. Tested tank water yesterday and the result is still 160 or higher. How is it possible for 5 cerith snails to be living, breeding, and laying eggs, given how intolerant they are supposed to be of high nitrates? I think the api nitrate test may be inaccurate.

I just checked my Tds. 640 at kitchen sink and 15 at the end of my ro facet. Which is good for me and I run a rented cullagen unit. It only has three stages. Sediment, carbon and ro.

I find this time of year the worst time for tds - with all the run off and increased chlorine it will clog up filters fast. I have noticed people usually get algae blooms in early spring and late fall due to older filters getting used up faster this time of year
