For setting up the full
Siphon drain- should I go with a hardware store ball valve?
Is that sufficient
Or is a gate valve required

I run my full syphon with a ball valve on my 120. But a gate on my 60. I will be changing my 120 over to a gate as soon as I can. I have a 1 1/2" gate, but that is too big for the spot.

I'm
Not 100% happy with the scape, but I will tweak it as I go.
The idea is there , I think it's the multi colour rocks that throw me off haha

Thanks @TORX for the valve!
Got it all set up and running, wife asked why the tank was 'off' . I know it's quiet as hell if she can't hear it ;)

Had to use the nest cam to adjust the valve in the basement haha

Also hooked up the skimmer and cleaned up the sump area a bit. Starting to look like a functioning setup :)

Dropped by living aquarium in Cambridge after the show on Sunday, picked up the first two tank inhabitants
Beautiful healthy yellow tang
Small sailfin- slightly beat up but looked healthy and eating great, ( was 20$ ;) )
Fins grow back haha

So bit of a complication with my old nemisis ICH, but seem to have a solution figured out.

http://thefragtank.ca/community/threads/good-ole-cryptocaryon-ich-and-qt.19290/

that will bring you up to speed.

So im going to go TO this Saturday to do some fish shopping.
The old addage- add slow- is front and centre.

Im curious what would be considered as adding slow.

Already have a yellow tang and sailfin tang, both small.

Heres my stock list:

1 yellow tang
1 sailfin
1 pair of clowns
1 pair of red leapord wrasse
1 midas blenny
1 starry blenny
1 misc. wrasse (maybe flame, radiant)
1 misc. fish. Would like a stand out-odd kind of fish. but need to research the best fit.
Possibly a small school of chromis

Levels are all good.
Am- 0
nitrite- 0
Nitrate- 5
Ph 8.3
Salinty- 1.0023 (this stays here or lower until i get corals in 2017)

Got light in today!!
Pretty crazy, ordered last Saturday and got them 1 week later Friday - all the way from
China.

I went with Chinese leds because f**k paying 1000 to light my tank.

These things are top notch.
All stainless/ aluminum. Controller, 4 channels, dead silent cooling fans.
Even came with rails to space them out.

Gonna be sweet.

Also did another round of testing today.
Everything is beauty and spot on.
Salinity is nice and low which is perfect for adding new fish tomorrow.
I love my Hagen test kit.

Nice buy on those leds. Always been curious as to the quality of the made in China leds. Seem to be pretty legit.
